Densest Packing of Equal Spheres in Hyperbolic Space
We propose a method to analyze the density of packings of spheres of fixed radius in the hyperbolic space of any dimension m ≥ 2, and prove that for all but countably many radii, optimally dense packings must have low symmetry.

The group-invariant geometry on real and complex n-balls is hyperbolic geometry, in the sense that there are infinitely many straight lines (geodesics) through a given point not on a given straight line, thus contravening the parallel postulate for Euclidean geometry. We will not directly consider geometric notions, since the transitive group action determines structure in a more useful form. S...
متن کاملLocalized Tight Frames on Spheres
In this paper we wish to present a new class of tight frames on the sphere. These frames have excellent pointwise localization and approximation properties. These properties are based on pointwise localization of kernels arising in the spectral calculus for certain self-adjoint operators, and on a positive-weight quadrature formula for the sphere that the authors have recently developed. Improv...
متن کاملHyperbolic Monopoles and Holomorphic Spheres
We associate to an SU(2) hyperbolic monopole a holomorphic sphere embedded in projective space and use this to uncover various features of the monopole.
متن کاملFast and Tight Fitting Bounding Spheres
Bounding spheres are utilized frequently in many computer graphics and visualization applications, and it is not unusual that the computation of the spheres has to be done during run-time at real-time rates. In this paper, an attractive algorithm for computing bounding spheres under such conditions is proposed. The method is based on selecting a set of k extremal points along s = k/2 input dire...
